Gary McDonnell, Apprenticeship & Skills Development Manager for Mitie Property Management Ltd, is responsible for the management of the apprenticeship programme nationally for the business and also for maximising upskilling opportunities for the workforce.  Gary is a highly organised team player who has a breadth of experience in a variety of roles within the construction sector. He has a degree in Building Design Engineering and vast experience in a variety of technical/construction disciplines within the contracting, consultancy sectors including health and safety, structural and civil engineering disciplines. 

In addition to his role as Apprenticeship Manager, he is currently the Chair of the Building Contractors Training Group (BCTG).  Gary views this as an extremely worthwhile role as, collectively, members are able to share best practice and maximise training and learning opportunities for their employees. Gary believes that providing training and development opportunities, whether it is through apprenticeships for young people or upskilling our current workforce, is key to the  future success of a construction business.  He is committed to the on-going improvement of our peoples’ skills whilst at the same time helping everyone to fulfil their potential and career aspirations within MITIE.
