Gordon Mackenzie, Group HSEQ Manager with Clark Contracts, has 30 years of experience in the construction industry, working for major contractors in a variety of supervisory and management roles, including: production, safety, environment, training and quality functions. He is responsible for the companies’ Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Management and ensures that systems are put in place to ensure that they continually improve their performance, deliver best practice at all times and produce trained and competent staff. His role involves monitoring all aspects of Health, Safety, Environment & Quality Policy including managing all health and safety training, reviewing its implementation and reporting any significant failure or omissions. He manages the HSEQ Advisors who carry out regular inspections of offices, premises and sites and advise and report on hazards, precautions and compliance within statutory requirements and company policies. Gordon investigates serious accidents/dangerous occurrences and submits reports to the Director responsible for HSEQ, including any recommendations to prevent any recurrence. Finally, Gordon is responsible for maintaining accreditation to management standards and for developing and implementing the targets and objectives required to drive the business forward. Gordon is a past Chair of the BCTG and a current member of the Executive Committee.
